Randy L. Tharp, 68, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1956, in Nelson County. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working out in the garage, piddling with his son and grandson. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Tharp and Anna Marie Yates Tharp; one son, Jason Spencer Tharp; and three brothers, Daniel Keith Tharp, Ricky Tharp, and Wayne Tharp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cathy Tharp of Bardstown; one son, Jeremy Tharp of Bardstown; eight sisters, Verna Newton, Rita Ringle, Donna Calvert, Linda Stallings, Faye Smith, Pat Beam, Quinda Clark, Pam Hill; three brothers, Dale Tharp, Butch Tharp, and Gary Tharp; one grandson, Joseph Trenton Lee Tharp of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, and 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with a 6 p.m. Monday prayer service.
Memorial contributions may go towards masses.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
