Rena Delores Daugherty, 95, of Taylorsville, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at her home. She was born April 6, 1930, in Ohio County to the late Frank Barren and Bertha Mae Gary Woodcock.
She retired from JCPS where she worked in food service at Carrithers Middle School for 25 years. She was a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Taylorsville and volunteered for the American Red Cross.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Archie Clay Daugherty; three sisters, Mae Woodcock, Marie Lynch and Mary Mitchell; and six brothers, Carol Gene Woodcock, Willis Ray Woodcock, Earl Woodcock, Merle Woodcock, Vic Woodcock and Bernest Lee Woodcock.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Faye Shylock and Deborah Lynn (Charles) Vittitoe, both of Louisville; one son, Edward Paul (Nancy) Daugherty of Taylorsville;
one sister, Jerilyn Hoskins of Henry County; four grandchildren, Tony (Kendra) Vittitoe, Clay (Lauren) Daugherty, Michael (Delaney) Vittitoe and Abbey (Luke) Hardin; and four great-grandchildren, Samuel Vittitoe, Elizabeth Vittitoe and Sailor Vittitoe and Everett Daugherty.
The funeral is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Bro. Jon Rohr officiating. Burial is in the Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, and 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Plum Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
