Obituary: John J. Locklin, Jr., 96, New Haven

John J. Locklin, Jr., 96, of New Haven, died Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, a strong Catholic by faith, most recently attending St. Clare Catholic Church in Colesburg. He retired from Seagram’s Distillery. He helped raise seven children and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Locklin; his first wife and mother of his children, Rita Marie Greenwell; and five children, Diane Locklin, John Locklin, III, Michael E. Locklin, Sheila Nalley and Margaret Todd Boone.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Locklin; two daughters, Regina Locklin and Gina Johnson Bischoff (Jeff); one son, Tim Locklin (Sara); five stepchildren; 11grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Clare Catholic Church in Colesburg with burial to follow in the St. James Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, and 8-11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
