Obituary: William Marvin Barnett, 77, Mount Washington

William Marvin Barnett, 77, of Mount Washington, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019. He was a native of Washington County, a retired employee of General Electric and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Calvary Christian Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Chester and Rose Barnett; and one sister, Rosie Bell Barnett.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann Baker Barnett; two daughters, Shannon Bryant (Mark) and Sheridan Barnett; one son, Steven Barnett; three sisters, Mary Bell Welch, Shirley Grigsby and Linda Coulter; one brother, J.R. Barnett; along six grandchildren, Carson Bryant, Carly Bryant, Carter Bryant, Josephine Matter, Emelia Matter, and Adelyn Barnett.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial in the Mount Washington Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, and after noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.

Memorial gifts are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
