Christmas Parade chairwoman Wilma Sorrell holds a 2025 Christmas Parade poster while discussing changes to this year’s parade at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

CHRISTMAS PARADE. Longtime Christmas Parade chairwoman Wilma Sorrell explained some of the changes in this year’s parade — some of which are due to the loss of the city pool parking lot due to construction of the new aquatic center.

The theme this year is “Parade of Lights — Merry and Bright,” and is encouraging entries to have plenty of lights.

Sorrell said she’s seeing tremendous interest in schools and community members who want to be part of this year’s parade. She’s also started to field inquiries from out of state from tourists interested in visiting Bardstown just for the parade.

Last year’s parade had more than 130 entries, and this year’s parade will be limited to 110 entries, she told the council.

The entry fee for the parade has been increased from $25 to $35, she explained. Right now she’s already received more than 40 parade entries.

The Bardstown City Schools have agreed to allow the parade to make more use of the city schools parking lots for staging entries, she explained.

Sorrell said the parade couldn’t happen without her team of volunteers who really make it happen.

The deadline for entries is Nov. 26, 2025.
