Obituary: Linda Cheryl Phillips, 73, Taylorsville

Linda Cheryl Phillips, 73, of Taylorsville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville. She was born Aug. 25, 1952, in Manchester to the late Thomas “Tom” Raleigh and Ruby Eileen Smallwood Phillips.

She was born and raised in Manchester. She was a graduate of Clay County High School and studied business at Lindsey Wilson College. She retired from the State of Kentucky after having worked in the Department of Transportation, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.

She was a Baptist by faith and grew up in Horse Creek Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Amy C. Smallwood; one grandson, Dalton K. Minton; one sister, Lucy Fern Woods ; and three brothers, Jimmy Phillips, Kenneth Phillips and David “Tommy” Phillips.

She is survived by one daughter, Gretchen Grant; three grandchildren, Tyler (Chelsea) Henson, Jacob Swartz and Kayla Smallwood; three great-grandchildren, Addison Henson, Mason Henson and Aubrey Henson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with a 7 p.m. time of sharing.

The graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Gregory Family Cemetery in Manchester with Bro. Chris Roberts officiating.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville and the Rominger Funeral Home of Manchester are in charge of arrangements.
