Bloomfield man convicted and sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor child

Thursday, May 15, 2025 — Victor M. Munoz, 30, of Bloomfield, was recently convicted and sentenced to three years in prison on charges of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree by Judge Charles C. Simms, III in the Nelson Circuit Court Tuesday, April 13, 2025.

Munoz was indicted Sept. 26, 2023, by a Nelson County grand jury on three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, offenses committed back in 2018 and 2019 involving the abuse of a 12-year-old female child in his home.

Under Kentucky law, first-degree sexual abuse is a Class D felony, carrying a potential penalty of one to five years in prison.

Munoz was sentenced to three years on each of the three counts, with the time to run concurrently for a total of three years. As part of a plea agreement, Munoz is required to register as a Lifetime Sex Offender. The court file also indicates an ICE detainer lodged against Munoz, who is a non-U.S. citizen.

Detective Walter Wetzel of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation, which included witness interviews stretching as far away as Arizona.

Assistant 10th Circuit Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Floyd handled the prosecution of the case.
