Andrea Ashly McCool, 48, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at UofL Jewish Hospital. She was born April 26, 1977, in Louisville to Alice Fay Higginbotham and Earl Cary McCool.
She was a 1995 graduate of Shelby County High School and graduated from University of Kentucky and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She was a nurse inspector for the Kentucky State Office of the Inspector General.
She was an RN BSN and Nursing Care Technician for UK Chandler Medical Center and was a research analyst for the University of Kentucky.
She was an animal lover and an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, loved the beach, cooking and shopping. She made the world a better place with her compassion, love and wonderful smile. She was her mother and father’s sunshine.
She is survived by her father, Earl McCool of Shelby County; her mother, Alice Higginbotham of Bardstown; her best friend, Chris Tomlinson of Somerset. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, many loved cousins and friends.
The funeral is noon Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home wiith Bro. Doug Simpson officiating. Burial is in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at the funeral home.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
