Arthur Edward Reed, 88, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, at his home. He was born April 20, 1937, in Springfield to the late Clarence and Frances Spurley Reed.
He was a retired maintenance manager at the old Flaget Hospital and was a member of St. John AME Zion Church of Bardstown. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was an avid UK fan and was everybody’s favorite uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scott Reed; two sisters, Katherine Frances and Rosetta Dodson; one brother, Nelson Reed; and a half-brother, Matthew Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Shauntee Reed; four daughters, Paula (Willie) Spriggs Jr. of Navasota, Texas, Carol (Kevin) Wagner of Lexington, Roslyn (Richard) Harris of Gainsville, Ga., and Teresa Reed of Bardstown; four sons, Arthur Reed of Plano, Texas, Jeffrey Reed of San Antonio, Texas, Tim (Debra) Reed of Garner, N.C., and Patrick (Joslynne) Reed of Bardstown; one sister, Liz (Charlie) Davidson of Pineville, Ga.; one brother, William Reed of Homestead, Fla.; and two half-sisters, Carleen Phillips and Sharon Brewer, both of Bardstown.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Roscoe Linton officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at the funeral home.
