Obituary: Dan Kennedy, 80, Cox’s Creek

Dan Kennedy, 80, of Cox’s Creek, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at his home. He was born Dec. 13, 1945, in Louisville. He was a veteran of the Kentucky Air National Guard and of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Washington.

He was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, and friend to many. He was an avid bird hunter, liked to train dogs, travel, and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Buck” and Ruth ” Tootsie” Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Debby Kennedy of Cox’s Creek; two sons, Scott Daniel (Jennifer) Kennedy of Bloomfield and Casey (Sissy) Kennedy of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Ken Kennedy of Jacksonville, Fla. and David (Sherry) Kennedy of Louisville; six grandchildren, Austin Taylor (Kelly) Kennedy, Mikayla Nicole (Kristian) Kennedy-Young, Colleen Elizabeth (Seamus) MacLeod, Claire (Dade Nalley) Kennedy, Wyatt Collier Kennedy, and Mollie Abigayle Kennedy; one great-grandson, Jason Cade Young; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with Pastor Mark Jones officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County.
