Obituary: Elizabeth ‘Diane’ Murphy Bland, 71, Campbellsville

Elizabeth “Diane” Murphy Bland, 71, of Campbellsville, died peacefully Monday, May 12, 2025, at home surrounded by family. She was born Nov. 29, 1953, at Rosary Hospital in Campbellsville to the late James “Bill” Murphy and Ella Frances Cull Murphy.

She graduated from Taylor County High School in 1971. She worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. She graduated from Campbellsville University in 2000. She worked in the Medical Records Department at Taylor Regional Hospital for 19 years. Most importantly, her life was rich with love and devotion centered around her family.

She married Richard “Ricky” Bland of Calvary March 11, 1972, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was a faithful member of the church until her death.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Morris (Jimmy); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by two daughters, Christie Metcalf (Brad) of Bardstown and Laura Gupton (Lee) of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mary Thomas (Bernard) of Calvary and Betty Burris (Danny) of Russell Springs; one brother, Billy Murphy of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Katlynn Metcalf, Morgan Gupton and Evan Gupton.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Clark officiating. Burial is in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus of Green River, or the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church cemetery fund.

The Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
