James “Jim” Boles, 73, of Bardstown, died peacefully at his home Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 15, 1952, in Terre Haute, Ind.

He was a railroad man since high school. He spent 49 years with the Union Pacific Railroad and RJ Corman Railroad until his retirement.
He was an avid classic and show car collector. He was always ready for another car show or cruise-in. Jim was instrumental in making sure the Whiskey City Cruiser events were well-publicized on social media, and he faithfully took photos of every vehicle that participated in the Cruiser’s events. He cherished his time with his fellow car enthusiasts and the Whiskey City Cruisers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marie Boles.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jane Boles of Bardstown; one daughter, Tonya (Chad) Donoho of Cox’s Creek; one son, Aaron (Kristen) Boles of Bardstown; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie (Whit) Wiman-Donoho, Nathan (Anna) Donoho, Lily Donoho, Ellery Donoho, Aiden Boles, Andrew Boles, and Alec Boles; three sisters, Carol (Jan) Stoner, Bernadine Boles and Debra (Stan) Smith; one brother, Ron (Suzanne) Boles; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service is 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with Tom Smith officiating.
Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
