Obituary: James Roman Phillips, 41, Bardstown

James Roman Phillips, 41, of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Mary’s and Elizabeth Hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1983, in Marion County.

He enjoyed wrestling. He was an avid golfer, gamer, and 49ers fan. He was a member of the Bourbon City Bowling League. He coached his children’s teams. He was also a foodie, he enjoyed making desserts, passing along all he knew about baking to his kids. He made sure to have brisket bites at least once a week and a weekend trip to Bardstown Burger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Rudy and Janis L. Phillips; and one brother, Tuan Demetric Phillips.

He is survived by his partner, Stephanie Blaine; four children, Alaysha Linton-Phillips, Trinity Yocum, Zada Phillips, and Houston Phillips; three nieces and nephews, Decambry Phillips, Camari Phillips, and Chazarri Phillips; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church with burial in Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bourbon City Bowling League, Bardstown Tigers Little League, and/or Bardstown High School Bowling Team.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Blaine, Dylan Blaine, Skyler Blaine, Tooter Sheckles, Pat Myers, and Corey Cockran.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Sheckles, Pat Reed, Steve Woodson, Vancy Livers, Joe Linton, Charles Yocum, and Antwan Lydian.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
