Obituary: John Gerald ‘Jerry’ Hutchins, 84, Bardstown

John Gerald “Jerry” Hutchins, 84, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home. He was born March 12, 1941, in Samuels to the late John L. and Alma Vittitoe Hutchins. He was a retired chemical operator for Rohm and Haas and he attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a great car enthusiast. He was a fan of the NHRA. He enjoyed going to car shows and loved anything to do with cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Lynne Hutchins; two sisters, Shirley McGoff and Donna Faye Hutchins; and two brothers, Richard Gene Hutchins and Gary Michael Hutchins.

He is survived by his wife, Fern Collins Hutchins; one daughter, Tammie Marie (Billy) Noe of Mount Washington; one son, Jeffrey Wayne(Donna) Hutchins of Mount Washington; one sister, Vickie Marie (Bernie) Batcheldor of Bardstown; one brother, Joseph L. (Patsy) Hutchins of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Liz Hutchins of Bardstown; two granddaughters, Whitney Hutchins (Jonathan) Doan of Bardstown and Baylee Nikale (Kevin) Fowler of Bloomfield; two grandsons, Matthew Noe of Upton and Corey (Ashley) Noe of Leitchfield; one great-grandson, Charlie Johannes; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Iggy.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Graf officiating. Burial is in Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
