Joseph Orlando Downs, 87, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind. He was born March 10, 1938, in Bardstown. He was a U.S. Army veteran in the Armor Division. He was the owner of Joseph Downs Excavating and Plumbing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Emily “Joyce” Downs of Bardstown; two sons, Brent (Jessica) Downs and Jonathan (Elizabeth) Downs; and four grandchildren, Linus Downs, Winston Downs, Jebediah Downs and Haywood Downs.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. J. Randall Hubbard officiating.
Visitation is 9-10:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial at a later date.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
