Obituary: Lillie Mae Drake, 87, Bloomfield

Lillie Mae Drake, 87, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1938 in Chaplin to the late Jim and Mary Jordan Duncan. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing farkle and making candy, especially peanut brittle.

She was also known as “Gran” which was more than her title; she was a God-fearing woman who not only loved her family, but was a grandma to many families. Her door was always open; she was love, light and a soulful song. She was a member of the Bloomfield Senior Citizens Group. She was also a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert Drake; six sisters, Rebecca Mason, Sarah Willis Duncan, Susie Mudd, Frances Stone, Carrie Bishop, Irene Duncan; and one brother, Jim Duncan Jr.

She is survived by two sons, William “Buster” Drake and Terry (Lysa) Drake, both of Bardstown; six grandchildren, Natasha Drake, Raven (Phil Cross) Drake, T.C (Kayla) Drake, Samantha Drake, Cierra (Tom Watson) Drake, Aliyah (Steve Craven) Drake; eight great-grandchildren, Cam Cade, Carter Drake, Kingston Drake Davis, Kylo Craven, Rowdy Watson, Ryann Cross, Levi Cross, and Knox Martin due in January; and a special nephew, John “J.J.” James who was like a son.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at the Campbell Chapel A.M.E Zion Church with Bro. Butch Maddox officiating. Burial is in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at the church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield has been entrusted with arrangements.
