Louis F. Leachman Jr., 91, of New Haven, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at his home. He was a former buyer for Bacon’s Department Store and a sales representative who retired from Masterlock.

He was a devout Catholic. At the age of 16, he entered into the Abbey of Gethsemani. He also worked at the monastery for a period of time later in life. He worked for Boone and Boone, where he enjoyed working alongside his good friend, Charlie Boone. He and his wife, Eva, attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Leachman Sr. and Elizabeth Leachman; and one brother, Victor Leachman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Eva Leachman; two daughters, Betty L. Howell (Steve) and Julie L. Crismon (David); one son, Dawson Leachman; three stepchildren, Carolyn Fessel, Wes Mosier Jr., and Darryl Mosier (Alana); three sisters, Joan Amburgey, Carmelia Gregory, and Celide Dymond (Lewis); one sister-in-law, Mary Leachman; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope with cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Abbey of Gethsemani, and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
