Obituary: Martin Douglas ‘Marty’ Chesser, 61, formerly of Chaplin

Martin Douglas “Marty” Chesser, 61, of Glendale, formerly of Chaplin, died at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

MARTIN DOUGLAS “MARTY” CHESSER

He was born in Shelbyville Aug. 5, 1964, to the late Rollin and Mary Emma Foster Chesser.

He was a member of the Bloomfield Church of God of Prophecy, a 1983 graduate of Nelson County High School, a former employee of Universal Fasteners in Lawrenceburg where he worked for more than 25 years. He was an employee of Elizabethtown Independent Schools.

He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan, but he was first and most of all a devoted husband, loving father and best papaw to his three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Boblitt (April 27, 2019) and Linda Brown (July 17, 2021).

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Thompson Chesser; one daughter, Emily Janelle Pile (Aaron) of Glendale; one son, Martin Connor Chesser (Katherine) of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Patricia Mars of Arkansas and Denise Wilson (James “Bo”) of Nonesuch; one brother, Mike Chesser of Bloomfield; his stepmother, Catherine Chesser of Bloomfield; and three grandchildren, Kamden Pile, Korbin Pile and Karson Pile;

The funeral is 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Bloomfield Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Millard Ledford officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery at Chaplin.

Visitation iis 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at the church.

Casket bearers are Kamden Pile, Stevie Thompson, Spenser Thompson, Wesley Vittitoe, Terry Broyles and Ray Keeling.

Honorary pallbearer is Korbin Pile.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to, Camp Hendon 1640 Lynden Farm Court, Suite 108, Louisville, KY 40202 (A camp for juvenile diabetes)

Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
