Mary “JoAnn” Miles, 89, of New Haven, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at her home. She was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Nelson County to Herman and Katherine Rogers Vittitow.
Shen enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards with family, and cooking holiday dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Elmer Miles; two sisters, Dean Dones and Phyllis Vittitow (Infant); and one brother, Roger Herman Vittitow.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bobby Miles of New Haven; two daughters, Pam (Russ) Thurman of Bardstown and Missy (Bill) Newton of New Haven, Kentucky; three sons, Ricky (Kathy) Miles, Dougie (Barbara) Miles, and Jeff (Jenny) Miles, all of New Haven; siblings, Donna Miles and Pat Cundiff; fourteen grandchildren, two of which were her caregivers : April Downs, and Rachel Wooldridge; twenty-six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Chesser officiating. Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025 and 9 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7 PM on Monday, led by Father Ben Brown.
