Van Darrell Johnson, 82, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at his home. He was born June 16, 1943, in Nelson County to the late Herman and Monzell McCubbins Johnson. He worked at American Air Filter for a number of years and then later at Barton’s Distillery. He enjoyed shooting pool and hunting. He attended Mount Washington Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy Lyvers, Lola Jane Brown, and Joann Janes; and three brothers, Lonny Johnson, Phillip Johnson and William Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Morris Johnson; two sons, Timmy (Becky) Johnson and Scott (Peggy) Johnson both of Bardstown; two brothers, Arthur (Glenna) Smith and Basil (Annie) Smith, both of Bardstown; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with Bro. Josh Simpson officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.
