Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 — I recently read a published opinion from a local Democrat that suggested that readers think about her perspective and if it differs from hers, to give it some thought. Well, I have given her opinion(s) some thought and I have found it / them to be quite “rich”, coming from a Democrat whose own party is polling at record low levels, even among its own members. And while I will not pretend to understand who could possibly save the Democratic Party from its freefall, I will attempt to point to a few obvious issues that have enabled the Democrats to achieve its record low popularity.
We can begin with the record high inflation rate of 9% achieved by the Biden administration (exceeding the record levels of the next worst Democratic president, Jimmy Carter) along with its refusal to lower its covid related spending levels. And not to be outdone by these pitiful results, the Democrats went all in on open borders to ensure that we let in maybe up to 20,000,000 unvetted illegal aliens. Then the Democrats dangerously label the law enforcement professionals Gestapo that have the difficult job of removing these illegals. Not to mention the stupid protestors and nutjobs that show up when ICE is attempting to enforce immigration laws that Democrats helped enact.
But these crazy positions can’t touch the Democrats incomprehensible endorsement of its many “identity” issues that has led to biological boys in girls’ bathrooms, a Supreme Court justice nominee stating in her confirmation hearings that she could not define a woman, and Democrats running for office calling women “birthing persons”. You can’t make this stuff up!
This Democratic Party has led the big climate hoax, called for defunding police departments, screams that Voter ID laws are racist, and passed gun restrictions that have not curtailed any violence (see Chicago’s 25 to 30 shootings per weekend with some of the strictest gun possession laws in the country).
The Democrats are now led nationally by socialists such as Bernie Sanders, AOC, and now a totally unqualified “Socialist Democrat” New York mayor. A party that led a record length government shutdown based on its own legislation that was set to reduce subsidies to families earning as much as $200,000 per year and eliminate tax cuts for those 52% of Americans who are still paying federal taxes. These poor policies come from a crew that has anointed itself for years as the party of working families!
I regret that this Democrat did not accept the teachings of her conservative parents. If she had she would now be a member of the Republican Party that gains new members each month in Nelson County and Kentucky while the Democrats lose members each month. Many of our Republican Party members were raised by lifelong Democrats, as was I, but thankfully we left that party when it left us. And I am sure our country will be better for it.
