Richard Lee ‘Dick’ Stone, 69, Bardstown
Richard Lee “Dick” Stone, 69, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
His was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Cox’s Creek and a member of Duvall Lodge No. 6 F&AM in Bardstown. He was a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster for Troop 258 in Bardstown, a member of Rover Scouts of the World and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a retired captain of the Bardstown Police Department, a former member of the Bardstown Fire Department and a founding member of the Kudu Martial Arts Association.
He was an Amateur Radio operator who was assigned the callsign KB4YYI on April 28, 1987. He served for several years as deputy director of Nelson County Emergency Management, and he was instrumental in recruiting his fellow ham radio operators as volunteers to provide communications support to county agencies when needed. He was a ardent supporter of the local radio club, the Kentucky Amateur Radio Society.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia Stone of Bardstown; a son, Jeffrey Richard Stone, and his wife, Laura, of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Abby, Allyson and Aidan; a brother, Kenneth G. Stone, of Bardstown; and two nephews, Robert Stone and Daniel Stone.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Burial follows in Vine Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Mar;ch 7, 2012, at the funeral home.
