Herbert Eugene ‘Gene’ Simpson, 78, Chaplin

Herbert Eugene “Gene” Simpson, 78, of Chaplin, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his home.

He was a retired farmer and part owner of Simpson Brothers Construction and a member of Chaplin Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sherwood and Vangie Hawkins Simpson; four brothers, John, James E, Woodrow and Kenneth Simpson; three sisters, Buelah Mae Colvin, Dorothy Carney and Mary Katherine Carney.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Lou Bunch Simpson; two sons Doug (Cathy) Simpson of Chaplin and Greg (Karen) Simpson of Owensboro; two granddaughters, Callie and Caitlyn Simpson; two stepgrandsons, Michael and Kevin Fogle; and two caregivers, Mark Bohachevsky and Graciela Rodriguez.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Houghlin Funeral Home inBloomfieldwith burial inHighviewCemeteryin Chaplin.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Houghlin Funeral Home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson Co.
