Tuesday, March 06, 2012, 10 a.m. – Louisville businessman and former gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett has withdrawn from the race for the state representative for the 32nd House District.

Moffett resigned his post as CEO of the Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions, a Bowling Green-based think tank, in January for the Jefferson County house district seat. He withdraw Feb. 29th from the race following the state supreme court ruling on redistricting that returned legislative boundaries to the 2002 lines.

The original legislative redistricting created an open seat in the 32nd district, which was where he lived under the new boundary lines. After the court ruling, Moffett returned to the 33rd District, which is represented by fellow Republican Ron Crimm, who is seeking re-election.

Moffett and his running mate, state Rep. Mike Harmon of Danville, ran a competitive race in the 2011 Republican primary against the eventual GOP nominee, Senate President David Willians and his running mate, former Ag Commissioner Richie Farmer.
