Joseph Galloway ‘Joe’ McCauley, 89, of Annandale, Va.

Joseph Galloway “Joe” McCauley, 89, of Annandale, Va., formerly of Indianapolis, Ind.,  died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.

Born May 6, 1922, in Raywick, he was a former brick and block mason and a farmer. He was an Navy veteran of World War II.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Hill McCauley; his parents, John Lambert and Melvina Galloway McCauley; four sisters, Judy Favreau, Rita Mattingly, Margaret Galloway and Glora Mae McCauley; six brothers, Howard, Bernard, R.E., Ronnie, and Harold McCauley and John L. McCauley, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Gwynn Wallace and her husband Rick of Bixby, Okla.; one son, Joe McCauley and his wife Gail of Annandale, Va.; two sisters, Katherine Mattingly of Loretto and Marceline Nichum of Ill.; two brothers, Tommy McCauley, and Lee McCauley and his wife Patti, all of Louisville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with burial in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Raywick.

Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto.

Pallbearers were Denver Sumner, Scott Tomaszewski, Brian Tomaszewski, Brandon McCauley, Joseph McCauley and Joe McCauley.
