Steve Hart, 53, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at his home.

He was born March 5, 1959 in Bardstown. He was a 1977 graduate of Bethlehem High School, he graduated from the University of Kentucky and later returned to his alma mater to teach and serve as coach of the Banshee girls’ basketball team. He was a member of the Bethlehem Alumni Board, the KHSAA (Kentucky High School Athletic Association) and St. Joseph Parish.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Beverly Hart, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Hart; his mother, Martha Ann Hart of Bardstown; a brother, Bev Hart of Bardstown; two sisters, Marlene (Steve) Greenwell and Sharon (David) Roche, all of Bardstown; a stepson, Jack (Deanna) Kelly of Bardstown; two stepdaughters, Nicole (David) Wheatley and Ellen (Chris) Bowling, all of Bardstown; two stepgrandsons, Ethan Wheatley and Carson Wheatley, four nephews, Patrick Greenwell, Christopher Greenwell, Travis Greenwell and Alex Roche; and three nieces, Jessica Greenwell, Kelsey Greenwell and Hayley Roche.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hammer officiating.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Bethlehem High School and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem High School, Bethlehem Athletics, or the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, Duke University Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, N.C. 27710.
