Bardstown man arrested after using stroller to block police pursuit
Friday, March 16, 2012, 6 p.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested Thursday night after he used a baby stroller with two children inside to block a police office from pursueing him when he fled the officer on foot.
David C. Moran, 27, was arrested on charges of violating parole (for a felony offense), second-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and disorderly conduct in the wake of a complaint to police about Moran’s conduct in the 800 block of West Broadway.
According to a Bardstown Police press release, a caller told dispatchers a man was talking very loudly as he pushed a baby stroller back and forth near 803 W. Broadway. The stroller held children, one 10 months old, the other 2 years old.
Officer Patrick Stucker responded to the area and talked with Moran while checking for warrants. When police records indicated Moran had an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation, Stucker attempted to arrest Moran. Moran pushed the stroller carrying the children at the officer and fled on foot. Stucker caught the stroller and secured it before pursuing and capturing Moran. Stucker used his Taser while making the arrest. Moran was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
The children in the stroller were unharmed and were released to their mother after the incident.
