Lucille Shewmaker, 92, Bardstown

Lucille Shewmaker, 92, of Bardstown, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Windsor Gardens in Bardstown.

She was the former Lucille Burns and a native of Washington County. She was a former resident of Bloomfield a former employee of the Charlestown Powder Plant, a volunteer for Flaget Hospital Auxiliary and the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief team. She was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She was the daughter of the late Roy and Athenia Coulter Burns and was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Shewmaker; two brothers Harold Burns and Leon Coulter; and a niece, Barbara Cheek.

Survivors include a sister, Edna Ray Cheek of Bloomfield; three sister-in-laws, Ruby Thomas, Hazel Burns, Glenna Coulter; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Bloomfield Baptist Church with Brother Leland Parks and Brother Richard Carwile officiating. Burial is in Highland Memory Gardens Mount Washington.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Bloomfield Baptist Church.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Bloomfield Baptist Church Building Fund.
