Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 plan activities, announce memorial scholarship

Monday, March 19,, 2012 — The Rolling Thunder Inc. Chapter 4 Kentucky monthly membership and business meeting was held March 4, 2012, at the Lebanon Junction Community Center. Charley Wachowski read a section of the constitution to the members. Petra Gill, Kent Myers and Randall Brantley received patches. The chapter received two new members Joe Newton Sr and Glen Wilkins.

A parade will be held in Millersburg, KY honoring military cadets on April 14th. . Members will be participating in that parade.

Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Kentucky will have a booth at Hooray for Heroes on May 19th in Radcliff honoring military veterans. During that time members will escort those in the Wounded Warriors program to the Publishers car show. This event will be held at the Publishers Printing Plant in Lebanon Junction.

Entries for the Rolling Thunder KY Chapter 4 Ron White & Zeke Spears Memorial Scholarship are being accepted and post marked by May 1, 2012. To be eligible one must be a Jr. ROTC Student, 2.5 GPA and must submit essay to Rolling Thunder KY Chapter 4, Attn: Scholarship Essay, P.O. Box 1295, Radcliff, KY 40159. Flyers are available upon request for the essay requirements and further information.

Plans are underway for members to attend the Rolling Thunder XXV 2012 Ride to the Wall in Washington, D.C. The Ride for Freedom will take place over the Memorial Day weekend. “We Will Never Forget” the POW/MIA’s including all wars.

Rolling Thunder Kentucky Chapter Four major function is to publicize the POW/MIA issue. Educate the public that many American Prisoners of War were left behind after all past wars. The organization is a veterans support group committed to helping homeless and disabled veterans from all wars. Many of the members are veterans and ride motorcycles, it is not a requirement to be a veteran or biker to join. Monthly meetings are open to the public and held the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Lebanon Junction Community Center, 135 Poplar St. The next scheduled meeting is April 1, 2012.
