City police assist jailers subduing inmate trying to hurt himself
Monday, March 20, 2012, 2:30 p.m. — A disorderly inmate at the Nelson County Jail suffered severe injuries in attempt to hurt himself while in custody.
James Timothy Yocum, 33, was injured and transported about 5:30 Monday evening to Flaget Memorial Hospital in the custody of deputy jailers and followed by several Bardstown Police officers.
Nelson County EMS was sent to the jail at 5:05 Monday evening after Yocum became disorderly. Bardstown Police officers arrived to assist deputy jailers in restraining Yocum. Officers inside the jail asked EMS step-up their response as Yocum was believed to be severely injured. Five city police officers assisted deputy jailers in the incident. Yocum was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in the custody of deputy jailers. Yocum was arrested and booked in the Nelson County Jail about 7:51 Monday morning on charges of terroristic threatening and menacing.
