ELIZABETH GERALDINE "GERI" HATLFIELD

Elizabeth Geraldine “Geri” Hatfield, 89, of Bardstown died Friday, March 23, 2012, at the residence of her daughter in Cox’s Creek. She was the former Geri Downs, a native ofNelsonCounty, a retired employee of Barton Brands LTD., and the Hampton Inn. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Alter Society, she faithfully helped open the church for morning mass, and was a member of the St. Jude Society atSt. Joseph.

She was the daughter of the late William Wallace and Louella Newton Downs. She was preceded in death by her husband William Earl “Dude” Hatfield; nine brothers; one sister, a grandson, Coleman Collins; and a son-in-law, Donald Hahn.

Survivors include four daughters, Alice N. Hahn, Mary Collins and her husband Wayne, Vicki Greer and her husband Tom, all of Bardstown, and Tana Allgeier and her husband Hammer of Cox’s Creek; six sons, Jim Nalley and his wife Nita of Frankfort, Joe Bob Nalley and his wife Paula of Bardstown, Greg Hatfield and his wife Ellen of Gallatin Tenn., Ronnie Hatfield and his wife Lori, and Dwayne Hatfield and his wife Renee, all of Bardstown, amd Kevin Hatfield and his wife Glenda of Louisville; three brothers, Billy Downs and his wife Wanda, Theodore  Downs and his wife Elsie, and Frank Downs, all of Bardstown; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Fr. Michael Wimsett will be the celebrant. Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County or St. Joseph Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be her six sons and honorary pallbearers will be her 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
