Rose Zahalka, 94, Bloomfield

Rose Zahalka, 94, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday April 4, 2012, at her residence after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Racine, Wisc., a homemaker, a member of B.P.W. and First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Zahalka; two brothers, August “Auggie” Smerda and George Smerda; and one sister, Helen Brown.

She is survived by two sons, Stuart Zahalka and his wife Lisa of Bloomfield, and Curtis Zahalka of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen with no services.

Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County or toward her services.
