Bardstown man arrested; police recover ‘truckload’ of stolen goods

STAFF REPORT

Thursday, April 4, 2012, 6:30 p.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested Wednesday on charges of receiving stolen property after an investigation turned up a truckload of stolen items at a home on Scotch Court.

Thomas Hamilton, 50, was arrested by Bardstown Police after a complaint that alleged Hamilton had stolen numerous items at the Bardstown Walmart. The investigation by police led them to a truck load of stolen items they recovered at 120 Scotch Court, including items believed to have been taken from Walmart and Kroger. The items recovered included cases of beer, electric children’s vehicles, kitchen appliances, a big screen television, Easter baskets, an iPad, class ring and an international coin collection.

Police determined the iPad, class ring and coin collection were stolen in a March 11, 2012 burglary in Clearwater, Fla.

Police say their investigation is continuing as they work to determine if others were involved in the thefts.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Bardstown Police at 348-6811.
