AmeriCorps reading tutor indicted for theft from Foster Heights Elementary

Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, 12:30 p.m. — A former Americorps reading tutor who served with the Team Up! Family Resource and Youth Services Center in the Nelson County Schools District was indicted Wednesday for allegedly taking cash belonging to Foster Heights Elementary School.
Megan Carlton, 20, Bardstown, was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury for theft by unlawful taking over $500. According to the indictment, sometime between Sept. 1 and Dec. 20, 2010, Carlton allegedly took cash belonging to Foster Heights Elementary School having the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $2,500 cash only plus conditions.
According to a November story in The Kentucky Standard, Carlton was an AmericCorps reading tutor who was working with the family resource center that served Cox’s Creek Elementary, OKH Middle and Foster Heights Elementary School.
