Julia Elizabeth Poynter, 86, Bardstown
Julia Elizabeth Poynter, 86, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at her residence. She was the former Julia Elizabeth Conner, a native of Nelson County, a member of St. John AME Zion Church, a member of the Abraham Lincoln American Legion Post 167 Ladies Auxiliary, and a retired domestic.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Florida M. Irvine Conner, and was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Poynter; one son, Joseph Edward Poynter; and a grandson, Nathan Labrent Mudd.
She is survived by 3 sons, James L. Poynter and his wife Ethel of Louisville, John C. Poynter and his wife Laura of Bardstown, and Charles Arron Poynter of Radcliff;
two daughters, Sue Rena Adams and Catherine Lydian and her husband David, all of Bardstown; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the St. John AME Zion Church with Rev. Samuel Harris officiating. Burial will be in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home and 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. John AME Zion Church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Hospice of Nelson County or Nazareth Home Health Care.
