Ruby Ethel Morris, 84, Chaplin

Ruby Ethel Morris, 84, of Chaplin, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at her home.

She was a native of Nelson County and a homemaker. She was a member of the former Chaplin Fork Baptist Church where she active in WMU and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Post #288 Ladies Auxilary in Bloomfield and a member of the Spencer County Homemakers Club.

She was the daughter of the late Dewey H. and Ora Lee Bowman Prewitt, and was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Morris; one son, Ezra Morris; one sister Bonnie Sweazy; and one brother Marvin Prewitt.

She is survived by three daughters, Ruby Diane Shouse of Bardstown, Rachel Morris of Chaplin, and Clarendia Sweasy and her husband Morris of Bardstown; one sister, Blanche Hardin and her husband James of Chaplin; five brothers, Bro. Norris Prewitt and his wife Betty of Tennessee, Kenneth Prewitt of Shelbyville, Harold Prewitt and his wife Dorothy of Bardstown, Hank Prewitt and David Cody Prewitt and his wife Marilyn, all of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Angela Shouse, Ruby Juanita Lamkin, Morenda Ferguson, Marquita Sweasy; four great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Jeff and Peggy Blair.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Bro. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the funeral home.

Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
