Philip Leo Luckett, Sr., 61, Versailles

Philip Leo Luckett, Sr., 61, of Versailles, husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Gardner Luckett, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his home in Versailles.

Born in Lebanon, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Eugene and Elizabeth Florine Abell Luckett. He was retired from Lexmark International and was working in the Department of Employee Insurance for the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eugene (Feb. 8, 1990) and Elizabeth Florine Abell Luckett (Oct 15, 1974) and his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Gardner Luckett (July 7, 2011).

He is survived by three sons, Philip Leo Luckett, Jr., and Matthew Ryan Luckett M.D., both of Lexington, and Michael William Luckett of Versailles; four sisters, Doris Jean Sandusky and her husband Earl Lee, Carolyn Luckett, Helen Luckett, and Rita Spalding and her husband Mike, all of Lebanon; three brothers, Daniel Luckett and his wife Teeny, and Nolan Luckett and his wife Kaye, all of Versailles, David Luckett and his wife Martha of Louisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at St. Leo Catholic Church, 295 Huntertown Road, Versailles, with burial in Rose Crest Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Schwendeman will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Leo Catholic Church, Versailles, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. following each visitation.

His brothers and three sons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his sisters, and family friends Terry Mills, and Katie Boyd Travis.
