LAWRENCE RAY GOOTEE

Lawrence Ray Gootee, 76, of Bardstown, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1936, in Lebanon. He was retired from Kroger after 43 years of service in the meat department, and was a member of St. Gregory Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lee and Genieve Mattingly Gootee; three brothers, Walter Gootee, Thomas Gootee, and Paul Gootee; and two sisters, Geraldine Myers and Kathleen Mattingly.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Kathleen Bryan Gootee of Bardstown;

two daughters, Kathy (Harry Brook) Greer of Bloomfield, and Robin (Gary) Pike of Mooresville; four stepdaughters, Donna Hite (Barney) Strange and Stephanie (Vince) Rosenblatt, all of Louisville, Joanni Hite and (Drew Kozakevich) of Tucson, Ariz., and Beth Hite (Jay Kraus) of Louisville; one stepson, Dan (Saralyn) Hite of Gracey; five grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Gregory Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. John Schwartzlose will officiate.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, and 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday by Deacon Joe Livers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.
