Woman, infant daughter taken to hospital after vehicle hit by tanker

Friday, May 11, 2012, 8 p.m. — A 32-year-old woman and her 1-year-old infant were taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital after the vehicle they were in was hit from behind by a Newcomb Oil tanker truck. Witnesses said the woman was awake and talking, but when first-responders arrived she had passed out and was unresponsive. Other than some abrasions to her collar bone, the woman had no visible injuries from the low-speed crash, first-responders reported. The infant appeared to be uninjured but was transported as a precautionary measure. The Bardstown Fire Department was called out in case the tanker was leaking. After inspecting both vehicles, it was reported there were no leaks from either. The accident happened about 6:45 Friday evening.
