Sexually assaulted young woman turns up near Relay site

Friday, May 11, 2012, 11:25 p.m. — A young woman who was reportedly sexually assaulted was found on the Bardstown Independent Schools campus Friday night while the school system’s football field hosted Relay for Life activities. The report surfaced about 10:55 p.m. when two young women stopped to talk to a police department chaplain at the Relay event about an intoxicated friend they were unable to locate. The young woman was apparently located outside the Relay event, telling the chaplainn she had been sexually assualted. She was taken by police to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment. A city police detective was called to the hospital to investigate the incident.
