Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Cecelia Elliott, formerly of Bardstown

Elizabeth “Libby” Cecelia Elliott, formerly of Bardstown, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at DuPont Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She was the former Libby Allen, and a graduate of Rutgers College in New Jersey. She worked for Kentucky Alliance, the NAACP and other organizations. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year by NAACP. She was a former member of St. Monica Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Greenwell & Florence Cecelia Lydian Allen; one brother, Richard “RC” Allen; and two sisters, Eva Mae Stone and Sue Willie Allen.

She is survived by her husband, George Deo Elliott of Tuscon, Ariz.; three sons, Bryan Elliott and his wife Lisa Elliott, Craig Elliott and Terrance Elliott, all of Louisville; two sisters, Carrie Stivers of Bardstown and Daisy Jean Allen of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, St. Monica Catholic Church in Bardstown with burial in Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, and 9-11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at the church.

Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
