Legion posts to host Memorial Day observance at city cemetery
Monday, May 21, 2012, 8:45 a.m. — American Legion Posts 121 and 167 will host the annual Memorial Day observance at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the gazebo in the Bardstown Cemetery.
First Christian Church pastor Bro. Rick Loader will provide an opening invocation. After a welcome address by Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles, state Sen. Jimmy Higdon, who represents Kentucky’s 14th senate district will serve as guest speaker.
The 123rd Airlift Wing Color Guard of the Kentucky Air National Guard will raise the colors from half-staff to full staff during the ceremony.
The chaplains of both Legion posts will read the list of deceased members, followed by the playing of Taps and the laying of a wreath by post commanders. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Russ Marlowe will distribute roses to the mothers and daughters of veterans.
