Sara Elizabeth Trigg, 98, Bardstown
Sara Elizabeth Trigg, 98, of Bardstown, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the University Hospital in Louisville.
She was born Oct. 31, 1913, in Lexington, and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a gifted artist and loved painting flowers and birds. She was a hostess at Wickland for more than 40 years. She was a charter member of Wickland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 52 years. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Homemakers Club, the DAR for which she illustrated a cookbook, and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was an avid reader, bridge and Scrabble player, and enjoyed word puzzles. Her positive and cheerful spirit was evident throughout her 98 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Samuel Trigg; one daughter, Becky Trigg Hobbs; one grandson, Embry Langan; her parents, Sidner Ewing and Nell Virginia Wallis Delong; and one brother, Sidney Delong.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Trigg of Louisville and William Trigg and his wife Judy Trigg of Frankfort; six daughters, Joan Whittenberg (whose husband was the late Billy Tol), Sara McGee and her husband Bob McGee, all of Louisville, Carolyn Thomas and her husband Dave Thomas of Olathe, Kansas, Bobbie Hannah Sanderson and her husband John Sanderson of Bardstown, Jean Gladura and her husband Joe Gladura of South Bend, Ind., and Susan Ballard and her husband Marion Ballard of Hillsborough, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service to be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Wickland Baptist Church.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home in Barsdtown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wickland Baptist Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.
