NCHS graduate dies from wounds suffered in suicide attack in Afghanistan
Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, 7:14 p.m. — An Army soldier from Ohio who lived in Nelson County and graduated from Nelson County High School has died from wounds he suffered in Afghanistan.
Sgt. Patrick Ryan Carroll, 25, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 7 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from wounds he sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvided explosive device. He was assigned to the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion, 525th Battlefield Survelliance Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Carroll grew up in Ohio and Kentucky.
