Ray Burkot, 61, Bardstown

Ray Burkot, 61, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born November 5, 1950, in Fairborn, Ohio. He was an employee of Toyotomi America in Springfield, a Eucharistic Minister, member of St. Joseph Basilica Choir, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Clara Burkot; and brother-in-law, Harrell Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Burkot of Bardstown; one daughter, Emily Burkot of Bardstown; two sons, PO2 Andrew Burkot and his wife Heather Burkot, both of USN San Antonio, Texas, and Simon Burkot of Bardstown; two brothers, Mark Burkot and his wife Janet Burkot, and Greg Burkot and his wife Paula Burkot;
two sisters, Christine Lawrence and Terry Burkot; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Pat Runge; two sisters-in-law, Patti Malinosky and her husband Mark Malinosky, and Pam Runge and her husband Roni Runge; one brother-in-law, Jeff Runge and his wife Sally Runge; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Joseph Batcheldor officiating.

Visitation is 9-10 a.m. at the church. A bereavement meal will follow the memorial service at St. Joseph Elementary School cafeteria.

Memorial contributions may go to Nelson County High School baseball team.
