Republicans, candidates gather today for Lincoln Day celebration
Feb. 12, 2011 – Republican candidates for statewide office will be attending the Lincoln Day Dinner this evening at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. The event is sponsored by the Nelson County Organization of Republican Women and the Republican Party of Nelson County.
A candidate meet-and-greet/social hour begins at 4 p.m. Candidates will have an opportunity to speak formally beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
The evening’s theme is “Growing our Party, a Grassroots Effort.” The guest speaker is Matthew Ballard, communications director for U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon who represents Indiana’s 8th District. Bucshon won his seat last November when incumbent Democrat Rep. Brad Ellsworth decided to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Dan Coats.
Current office holders scheduled to attend include U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie; state Senate President David Williams; Commissioner of Agriculture Richie Farmer; state Sen. Jimmy Higdon; state Rep, David Floyd.
