Harold Gene Moran, 78, Cox’s Creek

Harold Gene Moran, 78, of Cox’s Creek, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born April 7, 1934, in Springfield. He was a graduate of Bardstown High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Jim Beam Distillery after 35-1/2 years of service as a shipping supervisor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was an avid gardener and sports enthusiast. He was a nature lover and a favorite pastime was watching all forms of wildlife at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Clarence and Lula Margaret Grigsby Moran; a brother, Bill Moran; and a sister, Eddie Lou Hendricks.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Blanche Moran; two sons, Harold Gene Moran, Jr., of Frankfort, and William Blake Moran of Bowling Green; one daughter, Kelley Margaret Moran of Kingsport, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Austin Moran and Haley Whittle; and one sister, Sally Harris of Columbus, Ohio.

Cremation was chosen by the family, with a private service to be held at a later date.

Visitation with the family is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
