STAFF REPORT

JIM WATERS
Monday, June 11, 2012, 4 p.m. — Jim Waters, the president of the Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions, will be the guest on Tuesday’s edition of “Brooks & Company” airing 11 to noon on 1320 WBRT. Waters will be discussing the institute’s new report on lawmakers’ pensions, which refers to them as a modern day “gold rush.”
The Kentucky General Assembly made changes in the law in 2005 which allows legislators to enrichen their legislative pensions if they serve in another job that qualifies for one of the state pension systems. Gov. Steve Beshear has used the changes as a way of encouraging legislators to leave the General Assembly by doling out appointments.
