Cox’s Creek man arrested after alleged attempt to pawn stolen nail gun

Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 1 p.m. — A Cox’s Creek man was arrested Tuesday and charged with receiving stolen property after he attempted to pawn a nail gun that had been stolen 84 Lumber earlier in the day.

Brian Nicholas Smith, 30, of Cox’s Creek was arrested by Bardstown Police and lodged in the Nelson County Jail after police investigated a complaint of his alleged attempt to pawn the stolen item.

Police traveled to his home on Peabody Loop in Cox’s Creek and after obtaining consent to search the recovered additional items believed to have been recently stolen, which included two chainsaws, two Blu-ray DVD players and five power tool sets. Police also seized an assortment of drug paraphernalia.

Representatives from the child safety division of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services were called after two children were removed from the home due to conditions that left officerrs concerned about the children’s well-being.

The investigation is continuing, and police ask anyone with information to contact (502) 348-6811.
