Allison Avenue home damaged in Thursday morning blaze

Thursday, June 14, 2012, 9:50 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to a reported bathroom fire in a home at 624 Allison Ave., between Old Bloomfield Pike and East Daugherty Avenue at about 7:25 Thursday morning. Firefighters were on scene in less than five minutes, reporting heavy smoke coming from the home as they arrived. Bardstown Police were called to assist with traffic control, and a Nelson County EMS squad was on standby at the fire scene to attend to any medical needs of residents or firefighters. The American Red Cross was called to assist the home’s residents with immediate shelter needs once the fire was out. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.
